FAQ's
- How long does it take to build the pedals?
- The actual time will vary according to your skill and experience. Once all of the parts are collected, the average construction time should be between 25 to 50 hours.
- How much will it cost for the parts?
- The parts will range from $150 to $225 depending on your location. Some parts can be found around the house or bought in used condition.
- How do I know what to buy?
- A complete parts list is included along with recommended sources for them. Some parts may not be available in your specific area or country but I offer many of the parts that are required.
- Can I expect any customer support?
- People who purchase the DIY Pedal Guide from CST will have customer support for building advice to questions about parts.
- Do I need to be able to weld or use machining equipment?
- No, there is no welding or machining required. You need to be able to use a drill and hand tools. The use of other power tools such as a circular saw or drill press is recommended.
- Is the DIY Pedal version the same as the CST pedals?
- No, the DIY version is constructed from wood and off the shelf harware and materials to simplify construction. The CST production pedals are fabricated from steel using heavy duty machine shop equipment.
- Is it possible to modify the design to fit my own needs?
- The DIY Pedal Guide is just that, a guide. You can take as much or as little as needed to complete your pedals. Once you understand the concept of the design, you can implement it anyway you like. Some people who have access to machining and welding equipment have created their pedals using a mixture of the DIY and CST design.
